The Director, Narrowbody and Regional Schedules leads a team responsible for the development of American’s flight schedules, ensuring that all operational parameters and constraints are met and that all schedules produced are feasible. In addition to scheduling responsibilities, the director of this group holds oversight for the accurate publication of American’s flight schedules sent to the various selling outlets, including AA.com and SABRE reservations systems.

  • Leads development and dissemination of aircraft routing solutions for American’s narrowbody and regional route network
  • Leads implementation of various holiday and day of week flight schedules to maximize revenue
  • Evaluates and implements various fleet changes, special events, and charter schedules that meet all operational requirements
  • Partners with operational teams to balance operational, financial, and efficiency goals
  • Facilitates the communication of future flight schedules among various constituents throughout the airline
  • Oversees distribution of finalized schedules for publication to both internal and external customers
  • Develops capabilities of a large team through coaching, counseling, and providing growth opportunities
  • Creates a culture which fosters a professional workplace, strong work ethic, and company pride
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles
  • 5 years of experience in airline planning and scheduling

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation Management, Transportation, or equivalent experience; Advanced Degree preferred
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience in airline operations and/or scheduling strongly preferred

  • Action oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging employees
  • Extensive experience managing and implementing large, complex projects
  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong problem solving, negotiation, and critical thinking ability
  • Strong analytical skills with emphasis on details
  • Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing conditions and priorities, and to redirect managers and teams toward new ideas and approaches in work methods
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and as a team member, handle multiple assignments, complete projects on time, and perform under pressure
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written
  • Proven ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software products, such as Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
